For Parents and Guardians

This disclosure explains how we comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and protect your child's privacy. Please read this document carefully before allowing your child to use Faith Voyagers.

What is COPPA?

The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) is a U.S. federal law designed to protect the privacy of children under 13 years of age. COPPA requires websites and online services that collect personal information from children to:

  • Post a clear and comprehensive privacy policy
  • Provide direct notice to parents about data collection practices
  • Obtain verifiable parental consent before collecting personal information
  • Give parents the ability to review and delete their child's information
  • Maintain the confidentiality, security, and integrity of children's data
  • Not require children to provide more information than necessary

Our Commitment to COPPA Compliance

Faith Voyagers is fully committed to complying with COPPA. As a faith-based educational platform designed specifically for children ages 3-11, protecting children's privacy is fundamental to our mission.

We believe parents should have complete control over their children's online experience and personal information. We have designed our platform with privacy by default, collecting only the minimum information necessary to provide our educational service.

Information We Collect from Children

We collect the following information from children (with parental consent):

  • First name only: Used to personalize the learning experience. We never collect last names from children.
  • Age or grade level: Used to provide age-appropriate content and track developmental progress.
  • Learning progress: Completed lessons, quiz scores, achievements, and time spent on activities.
  • Avatar customizations: Non-personal character selections and preferences within the app.

We do NOT collect from children:

  • Last names or full names
  • Physical addresses or location data
  • Phone numbers
  • Email addresses
  • Photos or videos
  • Voice recordings
  • Social security numbers or other government IDs

How We Use Children's Information

We use children's information solely for the following purposes:

  • Personalizing the learning experience (e.g., addressing the child by name)
  • Providing age-appropriate educational content
  • Tracking learning progress and generating reports for parents
  • Awarding achievements and badges to motivate learning
  • Improving our educational content and platform

We never use children's information for marketing purposes or to target advertising.

Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, or share children's personal information with third parties for their own marketing or commercial purposes.

We may share limited information only in these circumstances:

  • Service Providers: We work with select service providers who help us operate our platform (e.g., cloud hosting). These providers are contractually bound to protect children's data and use it only as we direct.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of a child or others.

Parental Rights

Under COPPA, parents have the right to:

  • Review: Request and review all personal information we have collected from your child.
  • Delete: Request deletion of your child's personal information. This can be done through account settings or by contacting us.
  • Refuse Further Collection: Direct us to stop collecting your child's information (which may require deleting the child's profile).
  • Update: Correct or update your child's information at any time through the parent dashboard.

To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@faithvoyagers.com or use the controls in your parent dashboard.
